HALE
The Holistic Agroforestry Training for Livestock and Ecosystems Project
The Holistic Agroforestry Training for Livestock and Ecosystems (HALE) is a new Erasmus+ project aiming to promote agroforestry as an innovative and sustainable approach to livestock farming. It is aligned with the WHO’s ‘One Health’ framework, for the improvement of animal welfare, ecosystem restoration and farmer resilience, and thus contribute to the green transition and policy developments in the European agricultural sector.
The project is led by European Agroforestry Federation (EURAF) as the project coordinator, the HALE project consortium brings together expert partners including OnProjects (Spain), Asociace soukromého zemědělství ČR (Czechia), Český spolek pro agrolesnictví (Czechia), Coag Jaén (Spain), Biotehniški center Naklo (Slovenia), and Univerzitet u Novom Sadu (Serbia) to advance high-level agroforestry education and training across Europe. It is designed FOR farmers and agroforestry advocates, with special attention to women and young farmers. We will also engage advisors, academics, VET providers, and policymakers.
Our goal is to provide farmers across Europe with the knowledge, tools, and practical resources they need to integrate agroforestry into livestock systems, enhancing animal welfare, biodiversity, and soil health.
As such, we are creating:
🌟 A case study handbook that will bring together at least 10 good practices developed in the EU in the field of agroforestry.
📚Three training modules, each consisting of 4 illustrated practical sheets and 2 video tutorials.
🌐 A web-based training platform that will provide easy and flexible access to this content, in line with the needs of farmers.
✅ 7 policy briefs and a promotion and awareness campaign to increase the visibility of HALE policy recommendations.
This project is a major step towards more sustainable, ethical, and resilient farming. Follow us and stay connected for more updates.
